This year being the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop, the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music presents “Hip Hop in the Round”, an afternoon of conversation and music featuring Hip Hop performers from the Asbury Park area. The collaboration will also include students from the Hip Hop Institute located within the Boys and Girls Club and supported by the Lakehouse Music Studio, both in Asbury Park. Artists will share insight into their creative process, their roots and influences.
So many of our local children can’t see their way out of the environment in which they live. Through relevant and engaging music and life skills education, The Monmouth Boys and Girls’ Club’s Hip Hop Institute provides at-risk teens with a vision and tools to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
The Hip Hop Institute creates after school classes for Audio Engineering, Hip Hop Dance and Record Label 101 at the Club. Leveraging young people’s passion for music and demonstrating that those passions can lead to meaningful life and career opportunities is at the heart of the Hip Hop Institute.
The Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music celebrates the history of American music and its diversity of artists and genres, making them the perfect organization the BGCM to partner with for this event. Come support a vital local initiative while celebrating the anniversary of an artform that changed music.
