“Jazz Meets Hip Hop Orchestra” is a unique concert experience that aims to bring together classical music with jazz improvisation and hip-hop beats, creating connections between the music of the past and the music of the present. Narrated by a rap host, and in addition to a chamber orchestra, the event features a singer, tap dancer, and other surprises. Music includes pieces from different genres and composers, as well as an original work written by BIPOC or minority composer. The night ends with a DJ spinning house music.   

The event is the brainchild of celebrated violinist Charisa the Violin Diva. This talented and out-of-the-box performer challenges every preconception of what a contemporary violinist can do, collaborating with a diverse array of artists including the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Patti Labelle, Misty Copeland, Savion Glover, and Wynton Marsalis. Her single “Bethlehem” was featured in the 2022 Christmas Movie “Miracle before Christmas” on BET, produced in her in home studio in Newark.
