Ironbound Arts on Ferry Street
Sun, 6/25/23 @ 12:00PM - 5:00PM
Ferry Street between Prospect Street and Fillmore Street, Newark, NJ (all performances moved indoors)
Free
Newark’s Ironbound District is one of the city’s most diverse communities, a home to many music and dance traditions. And the heart of the Ironbound is Ferry Street. So of COURSE, any event celebrating the diversity and traditions of this community would take place there. On Sunday, June 25th, that’s exactly what Ironbound Arts on Ferry Street is going to do.
For this event, Ferry Street will become ‘pedestrian only,’ making space for plenty of street performances from musicians and dancers while still providing pedestrian access to the bars and restaurants lining the street.
*Artists for the June 25 event are subject to change and may be supplemented by additional artists at the request of participating restaurants.
At 5 Corners Ristorante – 10 Wilson Avenue: Janetza Miranda is known for her “velvety” yet powerful voice. Janetza’s influences range from, Salsa to R&B and soul music. Her performances are mesmerizing due to her wide range of intricate vocal nuances. Janetza plays guitar and has a unique approach to the set that ends up bringing a new life to the songs she chooses to grace her audiences with. Also appearing is DJ Kevin Darmanie.
At Adega Grill – 130 Ferry Street: Wyl White, is a singer songwriter whose influences result in a melodic cocktail that makes his sets unique. Wyl White’s influences go from hip hop and soul to rock and metal. White is a complete performance artist and, other than being a musician, he is also an actor and a dancer. His approach to the set involves an unforgettable tone of voice, dreamy looped sequences on the acoustic guitar and beautiful live violin arrangements.
Mike Santos is a composer whose influences are pure echoes of the “90’s revolution.” From rock pop to grunge, Santo’s compositions result in a modern era grunge. Santos is a “one man band” and composes his albums by himself. His “work ethic” combined with his raw talent make him quite successful on social media and his albums are always quite impactful on Spotify, he’s the living proof that rock is “alive and kicking.”
At Sol Mar – 267 Ferry Street: Avatar Band
At Casa Nova Grill – 264 Ferry Street: Samuca Moretti Performing Brazilian pagode and samba.
At Sabor Unido – 77 Jefferson Street: Ivo Samba School
At Ferry Street Barbecue 89 Ferry Street: Duo Atomic Band
The event is sponsored by Ironbound Business Improvement District Management Corp., a 501c(3) nonprofit management and planning community business development organization.
