Head over to Parlor Gallery for the free Opening Night Reception and Celebration, showcasing a group exhibition featuring the innovative artwork of women creators.
Art and music are huge parts of the fabric of Asbury Park. Parlor Gallery adds to the vibrancy of this already artsy community by curating art exhibitions that inspire local residents, many of whom might never have an opportunity to visit an art gallery. The gallery creates a space for community events and activities, providing a venue for both talented young artists who’ve never exhibited as well as internationally collected and established artists.
Parlor Gallery is directed and owned by Jenn Hampton and Jill Ricci. In addition to Parlor Gallery, Jill is an accomplished artist that exhibits her artwork locally, nationally and internationally. Jenn is the founder and curator of the Wooden Walls Public Art Project on the Asbury Park Boardwalk. With Parlor Gallery, their mission is to showcase, support, promote and collect art created by women and female-identifying creators.
The gallery exhibits a variety of different art forms from primarily female creators, who traditionally make up less than 13% of artworks on display in major US museums. To address that, Parlor Gallery curates 6-9 exhibitions a year (plus pop-up shows) that focus on local, national, and international women artists.
The event’s exhibition will be on view from June 17th until August 7th, 2023.
