We invite you to join Equal Space, Four Corners Public Arts (FCPA), and various community partners to create a community-painted PRIDE mural on Treat Pl. in Newark on Saturday, July 15th, from 10 am – 6 pm.
No Experience Needed. Folks/families of all ages are invited to join! Register via the link in bio!
In 2019, FCPA artist Daniela Puliti created a sidewalk mural titled Welcome Quilt on the corner of Branford St. and Treat Pl. In PRIDE colors, it stated, “All Are Welcome,” in a space that had been for years under-maintained, under-acknowledged, and daunting to travel. A little over three years later, this space has become a destination for arts and a place to share stories through public art installations.
In this spirit, the upcoming project will add a two-block long, 550 ft. community-painted PRIDE mural to the asphalt between Branford St. and Williams St. The artwork will share the spectrum of inclusion and center the Trans flag where Maiden Lane intersects. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
This mural marks a moment that we are witnessing a nationwide threat, overturning legislation on gender-based and affirming healthcare and targeting LGBTQIA+ rights. This activation demonstrates our city’s commitment to our Queer communities and is a joyous celebration of us.
It is a way for us to: Sound the Rainbow 🌈- amplifying:
️“We are here, we are queer, and we are Newark!”
This is a volunteer-run initiative. We invite you to get involved by:
