The stars of Broadway descend on Brick City this June for North to Shore when Broadway in the Bricks returns. Head to Military Park on June 28th for a not-to-be-missed music revue inspired by the songbook of the legendary Stephen Sondheim. Featuring a live band and a talented ensemble of top Broadway performers, this event is made possible through a collaboration with Newark City Parks Foundation.

Among those performing at Broadway in the Bricks are Indigo Jackson, Marisa Budnick, Gabrielle McCarren, Stefano Cutugno and Alexis Simon (plus other surprise special guests). The event is produced by award-winning theatre artist and educator Daryl Stewart and his company, Daryl Stewart Productions and is an official selection of the North to Shore Festival. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to experience a summer evening with the stars of the stage as they light up the night!

Broadway in the Bricks is a live performance series that brings Broadway’s best and brightest talents to Newark. Created in 2020, the series introduces audiences to musical theatre through specially curated cabaret events. Each series has a different theme that connects to the local community. Past themes have included: Black Broadway, Celebrating Jazz, An Evening of Hope & Inspiration.

Daryl Stewart has over fifteen years of experience as a performer, director, producer and educator. His directing and producing credits include productions of Step Show: The Musical (Mass MoCa, Bickford Theatre), Hairspray (UCPAC), Hear Her Roar (Newark Symphony Hall), Simply Simone: The Music of Nina Simone, 13, This Wonderful Life (Luna Stage), An Incomplete History of Broadway (Digital), Dear Tina: A Love Letter To Tina Turner (GreenRoom42/Off Broadway), The Amen Corner and Into The Woods (Vanguard). Stewart has worked with Papermill Playhouse, Disney Theatrical Group, The Johnny Mercer Foundation, MASS MOCA, 62 Center for the Arts, Union County Performing Arts Center, Triad Theatre, Playwrights Horizon, Cohoes Music Hall, Newark Museum of Art, Luna Stage Theatre Company and New Jersey Performing Arts Center.
