The Coming Home Community Cookout is an immersive theater experience built around the intersection between art and community. The event will feature a staged reading with music of a new original musical theater piece Coming Home by Lawrence Dandridge presented by the company of Aurway Repertory Theatre. This piece features a main character whose personal journey as an LGBTQ+ person creates a very real set of circumstances which force her and her family to re-evaluate all that family means. We will also partner with local LGBTQ organizations to hold a cookout and “family reunion” style day designed to hold safe space for the LGBTQ community, allies and all who know what it means to be a family. Aint nothin’ like a family gathering!
