Some platforms come and go. Vibes in the City stayed — and on June 14, the organization celebrates 10 years of becoming one of the most respected performance platforms in the Newark area. Producing over 300 events and giving a stage to more than 1,000 artists across music, comedy, spoken word and visual arts, Vibes in the City did more than just document Newark’s underground creative scene. It helped build it.

For the 10-year anniversary, founder Ishmeel “Broadway Blake” Blakewood and Jersey Produce are bringing that legacy to life in collaboration with the North to Shore Festival. This is a night of hometown talent, real community and the kind of energy you can only get from a decade of investing in and lifting up the creative community. Expect live performances that span genres and art forms and an atmosphere that feels less like a concert and more like a reunion that just happens to have an incredible show attached.

Vibes in the City has always been about more than entertainment. It’s about access — giving emerging creatives a genuine platform, connecting artists with audiences and showing up for the community through givebacks and volunteer days year-round. The 10-year anniversary is a celebration of all of that.
