There are bands whose songs feel like they were written specifically for you — songs that soundtracked late nights, long drives and every complicated feeling in between. The Ocean Blue is that band.

Getting their start as teenagers in Hershey, PA in the late ’80s, The Ocean Blue arrived fully formed on the fabled Sire Records label alongside the Smiths, Echo & the Bunnymen, and the Pretenders. Early singles like “Between Something and Nothing,” “Drifting, Falling” and “Ballerina Out of Control” became Top Ten hits on college radio and Billboard’s Modern Rock charts, and a devoted following grew that’s still going strong.

Eight albums later, the band — David Schelzel, Bobby Mittan, Peter Anderson, and Oed Ronne — is still writing, still recording and still delivering live performances that remind you exactly why you fell for them in the first place. Their shows are transportive: lush, layered and intimate in a way that feels almost cinematic. The dreamy guitars and shimmering textures that made them icons translate to the stage with a warmth and presence that studio recordings can wish they could replicate.

With a new album in the works and a set list that spans decades of essential songs, this is both a kind of nostalgia trip as well as a reminder that great music doesn’t age.

Opening the night is critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Brian Tighe of the Hang Ups, whose layered, heartfelt songwriting makes him a perfect match for the evening ahead.
